Football Coach (Mental Health Support Focused)

Location: Leatherhead Leisure Centre, Guildford Rd, Fetcham, Leatherhead KT22 9AS

Times: Fridays, 1pm-2pm

Service: Community Connections

Rate: £30 per hour

Key Responsibilities

The role would involve:

Leading and facilitating inclusive football sessions for adults aged 16+

Creating a welcoming, supportive, and enjoyable environment

Encouraging participation, movement and confidence-building

Working with a friendly and respectful group of adults

1 hour per week (with potential for future opportunities)

Person Specification

We’re looking for someone with:

Experience coaching football (qualifications preferred but not essential)

Approachable, encouraging and supportive coaching style

Understanding of or interest in mental health and wellbeing or lived experience

Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to weekly sessions

The volunteering role supports the facilitator In all activities, welcoming attendees, checking in with each of them to see that they are OK and supporting them throughout their time at the group. This role isn’t particularly demanding, however good people skills, common sense and the ability to get alongside others in a relaxed setting is something we look for. The volunteer role also includes a small amount of time either side of the group meeting to set up and pack away. Due to the nature of our work, this role would suit someone wanting a more medium to long term involvement. Some clients may have communication and confidence difficulties due to a number of health-related issues.

Mary Frances Trust (MFT) is a mental health and emotional wellbeing charity, supporting Surrey residents since 1994 in Banstead, Elmbridge, Epsom & Ewell and Mole Valley. We offer a variety of face-to-face and online services, available to adults (aged 16+) living in Surrey who would like to restore and/or maintain their mental and emotional wellbeing (no diagnosis needed). Our services are free of charge, with no waiting list and no time limit (you can use us for as long as you need and register again at any point).
